I am curious if there is any record of anyone who has ever through-hiked the entire Katy Trail? I realize it is mostly a bicyling trail but surely there are some hikers on it also.

Found a partial answer to my own question. There is a person who kept a page dedicated to those who have cycled the entire trail in a day or through-hiked it. Looks like 2 finishers on foot so far, according to the page. Actually one of those finishers did 1/2 the trip one year and the other 1/2 the next, so maybe only one "single-trip" through-hiker ever? Not sure about the post on the guys who supposedly ran the trail in 4.5 days pushing strollers of supplies. If anyone has any info. on this please post. I can't tell if the page hasn't been updated since 2008 or if there just hasn't been anyone else complete either feat since then.

Sean, I am guessing that you're talking about this web page here on this website: http://www.bikekatytrail.com/one-day.aspx

No doubt others have hiked the trail, but I do not know who or how many.

In fact, I was surprised to see that nothing has been added to that page since 2008, because I'm sure a few people are doing single-day rides and full-trail hikes every year. It did not seem like four years since the last time I updated that web page.

Anyone out there who has biked the trail in one day or hiked it straight through, please drop me a line (via the Contact link at the bottom of the page) so I can list you along with the others who have accomplished these feats.

I've seen several hikers on the Katy with backpacks and walking sticks; they could have been one-day'ers or nature lovers.

In 2009, I believe, two marathon runners jogged it as part of their cross-MO charity run. They pushed a large-wheel stroller carrying their supplies.

Someone did slowly hike it all the way to Machens not long ago. He gave a vivid description of the 3-mile unfinished section toward Machens at the time.

Pat Wendleton of Buy the Book (573-486-2722) in Hermann, Mo. hiked the trail several years ago. Contact her. I'm sure she'd share her information with you.
