It just hit me that in the several years that I've been riding the trail I've never seen anyone broken down with a flat. You'd think I'd have seen someone pushing their bike instead of riding.

Maybe then I would have put an extra tube on the bike. In my defense, no patch kit could fix this catastrophic failure. When I got the tire off the tube ceased to exist past the valve stem.

It was a great day to be hiking on the Katy Trail, though. Unintentional biathalon, 1-hour riding, nine miles hiking?
