I would love to ride this trail sometime in the next two weeks. Can anyone tell me if I park my car at one of the lots discussed on this website, can I leave it there for 5 or more days? Is there a fee for parking? Diane from Saginaw, TX mtnrrlady@sbcglobal.net

I have parked at Clinton and Sedalia several times for 5-6 days with no problem. There are no fees for parking or using the trail. Just a note, the water will be shutoff to drinking fountains and all restrooms with running water on November 1st, the pit toilets will still be open. Study the Mileage and Towns & Services links above to help plan your water needs.

Historically on this site, the North Jefferson trailhead gets unfavorable reviews. I've left my car at many of them overnight, but haven't and won't use the North Jefferson one for an overnighter.

We've also used the parking garage on Cherry next to the spur trailhead in downtown Columbia. It costs a nominal fee, but was close to the trail and worked well.

We've also left our car for a few days at the motel/B&B that we've stayed in. Most don't mind letting you leave a vehicle if you've stayed there.

The staff at the depot in Sedalia like for you to leave your name, make of car, and cell number when you leave your car there so they know the car belongs to a rider and who to contact if they need to.

In Sedalia, the parking lot of the college by the State Fairgrounds is also a good option for parking. It is right by the trail, it is in a better part of town, they have cameras in the lot, they do regular campus patrols, etc.

A guy I met at McDonalds who was a security officer at the college made me aware of that little trick------not that I ever had any problems parking at the Sedalia Depot.

Sept of this year we left ours in St. Charles for 5 days with no problem.
