We have a group trying to ride the entire trail next fall. I understand the trail is quite flat. Would it be too much to try and ride the trail in 4 days of riding ? Our group is very athletic and will be in good riding shape by that time.

We have a group that does a Clinton to St Charles ride over 4 days every year. We do 3 60 mile days then 45 miles on the last day. We do have a SAG vehicle with us but that is mostly just to haul the beer.

Can be easily done. Plan stops either camping, B&Bs or hotels early though if in Sep-Oct.

If you are lucky you might be able to plan an additional 47.5 miles from Windsor to Pleasant Hill along the Rock Island Trail State Park according to the Governor Jay Nixon's press release, and it is set to be complete by late 2016. If you do this you should plan on an average 70 mile per day ride. Good Luck! You Will Love the Katy!

Yes it can be done. My usual crossing trip is:
Day 1 - Clinton to Boonville - about 75
Day 2 - Boonville to Rhineland - about 90
Day 3 - Rhineland to St. Charles - about 65
Morning Day 4 - St. Charles back to Hermann - about 63
Afternoon Day 4 - Amtrak back to Kansas City

Faster than some prefer...and not a lot of time to "stop and smell the roses"...but (for what it's worth) that's how I prefer to ride it when I am riding end-to-end.

When I've just got a single day on the Katy...then I slow down and ride less and explore more.

Enjoy!!
