Treloar Bar and Grill is open. Not sure why it isn't on the amenities list. The food was great and the staff/owners were friendly. A really nice place to stop.

Ray (webmaster) on 04/26/2019 09:20 AM:
Thanks for the heads-up; it's listed now.

Happy trails!

Bill in Houston from Houston on 04/29/2019 09:54 PM:
Ray, thanks so much for this amazing resource. We used it to help plan our trip, and would have been lost without it. Keep up the good work!

Mr. Bump from Hannibal on 12/06/2018 10:34 AM:
Not open yet when we rolled through this time. But it was a good stop on our January tour.

Treloar garage bar/grill good stop for food/drinks
Jason from Kc on 09/03/2018 09:18 PM:
Definitely go to the Treloar garage bar and grill - it’s straight up the road that ends at the trailhead - can’t miss it.
They have really good food, (I had the homemade pizza and it hit the stop) great drinks and the locals were some of the nicest people I met while riding the trail (and I met a lot of great people). This place needs to be listed as an available dining establishment on the towns and services list.

Again so good, a must stop if you are there, each time trying new food, waitress is so nice, she knows us know, we sit at the same table near the artwork on the wall.

Tom H from St Charles on 05/21/2017 06:30 PM:
Had lunch at the Trelor Bar and Grill, was very good, waitress was very nice, they have a unique menu, stop in, you will enjoy it for sure. Will go back

Jodygofast from Columbia MO on 05/21/2017 10:21 PM:
I love the Treloar Bar and Grill. Great people. They have saved us many a hot day.

I'm not sure why Treloar Bar & Grill has been removed from the amenities list. It has moved but it is still there and open. We just had lunch there during our Katy Trail trip in early April 2017 and it was delicious as always.

Say what??? Has something changed? Thought they closed up, or down! Or are you yanking our collective chain?

Amy Williams from Marthasville on 08/16/2010 12:36 AM:
The sign at the Marthasville Katy Trail Head says it's closed..I had heard that they are under new management and will be opening back up...no idea for sure though.

Jim from STL on 09/04/2010 06:50 PM:
When we were out at the Treolar trialhead lasr week the grill had reopened under new management. Hopefully it will be successful.

Doug from Bluffton on 10/25/2010 10:12 PM:
Hey Linda, when are you open? What all is on the menu? Can bikers get water bottles filled?

Jim on 04/10/2011 08:40 PM:
Is this place (Murph's Place) open. We were by there today and there was no signs on the building and appeared closed.

Jen and Brian from Olathe, KS (Kansas City area) on 10/25/2011 01:44 PM:
Just ate there Monday Oct 24th 2011. Murph's Place is the new name. It was not the most beautiful place I've ever been inside but everyone was friendly and the $5.00 Burger and Fry special was one of the best burgers I have ever had. Delish and cheap!

Tom N from Paducah, KY on 11/01/2011 08:36 AM:
Great place! We stopped there on our way to St. Charles on 10/27/11 around noon time. Great food and cold beer and friendly service! Definitely will stop there again.

Eva from Treloar on 11/01/2012 04:04 PM:
To those of you that may be wondering...Treloar Bar & Grill is open once again!! It is NOT in the same building as before. It is just down the block from there!! The new owners are John and Lisa Ketterer of Treloar. They serve cold beer and good food!! They are in the midst of a bit of reconsruction right now and do apologize but we are adding more to the menu everyday!! Their new kitchen is coming along quite nicely!! Come on in and have a look!!

AndrewK from Kansas City on 07/16/2014 06:23 PM:
Is the Bar and Grill in Treloar open now?

David and Joyce from Garden City, MO on 07/17/2014 08:15 AM:
Yes the bar and grill in Treloar is open. We ate there last Saturday.

James Sims from Carrollton on 09/24/2015 09:26 PM:

Treloar Mercantile For Sale
Anonymous on 07/26/2014 02:00 PM:
Looks like the Treloar Mercantile building is for sale if anyone's feeling entrepreneurial. I'm in no way connected to this personally, but I saw it on Craigslist and thought I'd share here. http://stlouis.en.craigslist.org/bfs/4501099117.html

Anonoh on 07/29/2014 04:22 AM:
Maybe at half the price there would be some interest but since the trail is pretty seasonal it doesn't support the investment sufficiently.

ArkyKenny on 07/29/2014 07:51 PM:
ATTENTION everyone: if you ever get a chance to ride with Anonoh, make sure you do it on a gloomy day. Just sayin .........

MidSouth from Rogersville on 07/29/2014 09:14 PM:
Yeah, he is like a ray of sunshine!

Horses Honk on 07/30/2014 09:07 AM:
Maybe Anonoh would be more cheerful if the whole trail was open to horses.

MidSouth from Rogersville on 07/30/2014 02:47 PM:
I'm sure Anonoh will let us know about all the environmental and safety precautions to be aware of around the horse poop on the trail.

Colorado on 08/01/2014 06:05 PM:
Ever ride a trail with horse traffic? The nice granite packed path will turn into a sand box. No thanks.

Seeing more activity on 08/04/2014 05:25 PM:
Treloar is a unique town that has potential to draw more & more people / visitors ... typically on the weekends ... with the Treloar Bar & Grill there... Treloar is consistently getting more & more bicyclist, motorcycle riders, people from the surrounding area and people from abroad coming to Treloar due to it's central location ... it would be nice if some one could fix up the old mercantile / bank building ... it would truly enhance the town and become a beautiful place for people to come visit ... year around ...

Anonoh on 08/05/2014 09:45 AM:
I appreciate all the fine words. I did contact the realtor and this location has no septic or plumbing for either buildings so I do actually check into properties along the KT. Setting up some type of business along the KT is one of my intentions. However, a wise investment is necessary to get your through the down months of the year. Arky and Mid you are the greatest.

How far is the trail from the Mercantile property?

Rhineland - last chance!
rich lauer from mckittrick on 06/29/2012 04:47 PM:
we hope to be open weekends July 13 and on
will have water available and some foods. It was a challenge to renovate the Merck but breathing life into her is another challenge. Hope you can visit or see us on themerck.com Thanks

Hank from New Haven, MO on 06/29/2012 05:57 PM:
I wrote it in another post but Loutre Market in fact is very easy to get to from McKittrick trailhead. On west side of tunnel under Highway 19 is short spur trail, from there just pedal across highway to Loutre. 3 minute pedal at most. Of course if Mercantile is open then just go there.

Andrew from Ofallon mo on 08/15/2011 08:11 PM:
My friends and I got stranded in Treloar due to approaching darkness and the kind folks in the Treloar bar took such good care of us! You will never meet a finer group of people.

Anonymous on 09/08/2010 05:46 PM:
Restrooms are not available & you have to exit the trail for a slight detour. Appears a large tree fell during a storm & hit the restroom facilities.

K.T. Caboose from Marthasville, MO on 09/16/2010 03:37 PM:
K.T. Caboose is right down the road from Treloar. Located at 600 Depot St. Marthasville, MO, right next to the Katy Trail. You cant miss it!

Restrooms are available and they provide for sale anything from water, to ice cream, to hot dogs and nachos! It's a nice place to stop and rest.

Matt H. from Saint Peters on 08/09/2010 07:07 PM:
Was very disappointed that after a very hot day they did not have drinking fountains. The bar and grill everyone is talking about is closed (It says under new management please come back soon.) The place was a ghost town beside one older woman. I asked a lady outside if she could break my $5 so I could get some water at the vending machine and she held her purse tight and ran away. Very disappointed by the hospitably and services.

Started a ride in Treloar just waiting for cheeseburgers that I had heard so much about when we returned. Got to Case and all of a sudden it started pouring! By the time we got back we were mud from head to toe. We had met another couple on the trail who suggested we ask the people in the bar if we could eat outside on the picnic table. When we went in to ask they were so nice and welcoming. Told us to come on in (mud literally dripping off of us) and get dry. Had FANTASTIC cheeseburgers and wonderful hospitality! Will definitly plan another trip to Treloar. It is also one of the prettiest parts of the trail that I have seen so far.

Brian from Olathe, KS on 06/04/2009 10:54 AM:
Went by here on a Tuesday at 3 o'clock. Ghost town. place does not open until 4 and there is nothing else in town. Will never go back.

TJJ on 06/04/2009 07:48 PM:
Well Buddy, you just missed the best cheeseburger ans coldest beer of your life!

Both my trips, the place was closed. Weekends both times.

I've learned this lesson on the Katy the hard way. Many of the small, family-owned

businesses that make the Katy unique, close sporatically. I've learned to call ahead. I even

carry the phone numbers on my mileage chart. Last time we went to Dutzow/Blumenhof

winery--they said they almost didn't open the grill that day, "but someone had called."

That was me :-) and I had brats and german potato salad!

Our very first stop and at first we were scared to go in. The outside was not exactly inviting. Once we got in everyone was friendly and all of our meals were extremely satisfying. Be prepared to kick back for an hour, service is friendly but not fast. That's a good thing.

And you will get the BEST Cheeseburger you will find anywhere !!! VERY FRIENDLY people.

Blue Tapp from St. Louis on 05/21/2009 04:40 PM:
Treloar Bar & Grill is our favorite restaurant on the entire trail. It's very true about the cheeseburgers! And I've got a picture to prove it: http://www.bluetapp.com/KatyTrail2008/images/DSCF0232.jpg.

This was our planned lunch stop during a two-day ride. I was starving, but nervous as we

arrived in the middle of a motorcycle poker run. They didn't even notice the two cyclists in

spandex. Everyone was very friendly.

Does anyone know who to get in contact with this B&B. I've tried for the past 3 years (we ride the trail each June) to call the phone posted but never get a return call.

Anonymous on 04/14/2008 08:41 AM:
I've given up. I don't think this place exists. I've tried 3 years in a row to give them some business, but I guess they don't want it. Their loss.

A. Local on 06/06/2008 02:17 PM:
I believe this couple has retired from the BnB business. Hopefully they will contact this website to remove their listing.

Ray (webmaster) on 06/08/2008 08:07 AM:
I went ahead and marked this one as "closed".
