What an amazing experience

We just returned home (Rapid City, SD) from a 10 day adventure riding the Katy from STL to KC. We took longer than most because we enjoyed spending a night or two in a few places. Was really amazed at the trail, how well it is kept, the number of services along the way. We never were for want of something to eat or others to talk with at most locations.

We stayed at 5 different Airbnb/Bed and Breakfast along the way. One stood out for us in Boonville - the Katy Retreat which we found on this website. We were having some bike issues as we arrived with my bike, and much to my surprise we get to the house (which was just like two or three blocks from trail) and what do we find? A garage filled with bike repair tools and even a lift for the bike to rest on! I was like "Oh thank you! thank you!" Such a pleasant experience, and so appreciated after a long day on the trail.

Another shout out goes to Kende's BBQ in Sedalia - wow. That was a meal fit the most hungry rider. Definitely one of the top 5 BBQ places I have eaten at in my travels.

Katy Retreat in Boonville

Just wanted to give a huge shout out to Katy Retreat in Boonville, MO where we stayed for the night recently when doing a ride across the state. Of all the Airbnb's we've stayed in throughout the US, this one was definitely a top 3! It was about 1/4th of a mile from the trail, just ride past the Depot, hang a left and down the street.

Not only did we have plenty of space for all 6 of us with 3 bedrooms, but also a huge kitchen with just about everything you'd ever need - I'm not kidding, you could have cooked Thanksgiving dinner here with ease!

They also have a huge, secured garage to store bikes in so literally you can "ride right in". Plus, tools to work on bikes and a bike jack/holder that came in real handy when having to do some emergency work on a friends bike. This alone saved us huge amounts of time as we weren't sure where we were going to find some place to repair the bike. Then whala! Right there!

All in all, just a great place for Katy riders!
