KT Caboose in Marthasville FANTASTIC

KT Caboose is fantastic! Jon is truly one of us. Free spirit biker, solo entrepreneur, and all around great guy. KT Caboose is excellent food at a reasonable price. Our team will stop by to see Jon on every trip and you should too. This is the type of business we need on the Katy.

Really cool eclectic place to camp and/or get some food. Free ice cream cone if camping, nice hot shower, indoor plumbing. Had a nice chat with John (owner) and a good night camping here. Dinner ALT sandwich (Avocado/Lettuce/Tomato) was really good. One of the highlights of my trip cycling the entire trail from Clinton to Machens.

Do not plan on coming through Marthasville on Wednesday, cuz he is closed that day. This is a must stop on the trail. Lunch, ice cream, drinks, ice cream for lunch, camping, showers, they have it all. Such a great little stop that everyone should plan on stopping by while on the trail.

You forgot to mention the highway that runs right by the place with trucks using their jake brakes as they come down the hill. Campground may be good, sleeping is challenging. Also, there are plenty of places in Marthasville to eat.

The KT Caboose is one of my favorite eating options on the whole Katy Trail. I finished a 200 mile ride a few days ago, and stopped at the KT Caboose for the falafel hummus wrap - it was so good! The owner Johnny remembered me from last year - what a memory! And the owner is a long-distance bicyclist himself, so he is a fount of knowledge. Be sure to stop and eat here while you are on the trail!

We stopped here and wanted to camp but since rain was in the forecast (it ended up raining all night) and we only had hammocks so we had to go somewhere else. But he provided us a hot shower and some ice cream for a really good price. Highly recommend this location.

Made to Marthasville and the KT Caboose on Wed. Oct. 12th. Had previously called KT Caboose about reservations for camping. I was told there was plenty of spots and no reservation was required.
When we rolled in on Wed they were closed and there was no obvious places to put up a tent. They might want to have some signage or other indicators as to where to camp. After a long hard, soaking 55 miles that day I was tired and still mostly wet. I sent them a text and after waiting longer than I expected for a return text, I was told the bathroom was not functioning and they were closed and I should try the ball fields, just up the trail. Our little group of one old man (me) and my 3 boys rolled up to the Marthasville Community Club Ball Park, where we put up our tent along the 3rd base dugout side of field number 2! There was maintenance guy there who asked if we were going to camp there for the night, when we replied "yes", he said "Well then, I'll turn on the bathroom lights for ya'll." NO CHARGE. GREAT spot. Bar and grill just on the other side of an adjacent field with cold beer and good, hot food!
Bypass the Caboose and keep on rollin' for another half mile or so.

Our group stopped there for lunch today. It was wonderful. Best lunch we had on trail. Sandwiches made to order. John even picked the basil from his garden as he made our sandwiches. The caprese wrap was great. Everyone loved their sandwiches. John also filled our water bottles.

I camped there heading east and stopped in for a smoothie heading west. John is a super host and makes great smoothies. Very convenient, being Located right on the trail. I highly recommend here If you are looking for a place camp for the night. (Hot showers are included!) or just stop in on you way through for a healthy meal. It’s a great place!

This is a real gem on the Katy Trail! John is just a super nice guy, he offered to make us breakfast on Sunday even though they weren't supposed to be open. Breakfast was delicious. The camping was great, we were in a nice mowed field and I set up my hammock on a couple trees. And the ice cream cone was a nice treat! Cannot recommend enough camping here!

I have to agree. We stopped by recently and had a couple of ice cream cones. Little things like that made our 5th trip across the state a memorable one. This nice little restaurant is worth stopping for.

Stopped for lunch at the caboose last week for lunch and had a wonderful healthy meal along with ice cream. Excellent service and the food was fresh. Several vegetarian options that I didn’t expect. Highly recommend.

We stopped there after staying at Wessel park and had breakfast. John the owner was fantastic and the food was off the chain. I would HIGHLY recommend stopping by camping and eating.

We camped on 10/22 there and then had breakfast. John made one amazing Belgium waffle packed with good stuff that fueled my son all day! There was very little open until Rorchport, so we were glad to find this treasure! This was John's first season running the Caboose and he was closing the following weekend. Hope word gets out how he serves up some tasty & healthy food and his business grows next year.

Oct 10, 2021..A friend and I enjoy planning day biking trips on the Katy and Rock Island trails. Most of our bike trips include lunch and a couple of hours of biking. We try to meet at a location that is equidistance from our homes, especially if we are both working the next day.

Our most recent trip was to Marthasville and included lunch. I selected KT Caboose for lunch due to it's proximity to the trail and the online reviews were great for the resteraunt. I ordered the smoothie while waiting on my friend. Later, when my friend arrived, we both ordered the falafel wrap which came with pita chips and a great dipping sauce. The falafel and dipping sauce were very good , the fruit smoothie was amazing, and the conversation enjoyable.

What a find on the Katy Trail! Convenient location. Cute caboose. Nice variety of menu options for a small establishment . Went the extra mile for great service. Enjoyed the falafel wrap am and ALT (avocado- lettuce - tomato). Standard selections such as a cheeseburger were also available. Great place for cyclists to congregate. Will return.

I just finished a bikepacking trip on the Katy Trail. The food highlight of the trip was the KT Caboose in Marthasville. High quality vegetarian food (I had the falafel wrap), and topknotch coffee (french press). The owner Jonathan was delightful to talk to, and a group of us solo riders had a great conversation on the deck. Highly recommended!

We stopped here for lunch the other day. The food was great and very heathy. He was working by himself but got the food ready in a reasonable amount of time. We also enjoyed the conversation with the nice gentleman who was running the place.

I stopped for a light dinner on 8/17/2021; Marthasville was my overnight stop while touring the Katy Trail. I had the ALT sandwich (avocado, lettuce, tomato) and some tasty fresh watermelon. The best part was the hour or so of convivial conversation with John and a couple of other patrons.

Saw the big caboose and swung around while doing my Katy out-and-back. Excellent choice! Picked up a hand-made berry smoothie and and ice cream cone. Young John is a fine fellow and we had a nice chat. Nice restrooms and it sounds like he is providing camping space now too.

I didn't stay long but this is a fine stop and the food looked great. 8/3/21

I stopped there in June 2021 to grab a bite. The owner is super friendly and the food was delicious. He has his own healthy creations. However, I opted for a delicious cheeseburger and ice cream.

He hadn't started the camping and showers yet when I was there, but he was in the process. I'm glad to see he's got it going now.

Every KATY rider should make this a stop.
