Following up on some suggestions posted here a couple of weeks ago, I am building a web page listing everyone who has ridden the Katy Trail in a single day or covered the entire trail on foot. Yes, it can be done.

If anyone out there has accomplished either feat and you're not yet listed on that web page, please let me know. If you are listed but would like to add a paragraph or correct the details, let me know.

Obviously this information is all provided on the honor system, but I'll trust your honesty!

Although I would not intend to take anything away from anyone who opts to walk the entire length of the trail, but I think these two events are completely different in nature. It is one thing to ride the entire trail in a single day (an apple) and it is a totaly different event (an orange) to walk each mile of the trail spread out over two or more time frames while taking side ventures to rest up at home.

Agreed - either accomplishment is quite impressive, but they are two totally different animals (or fruits <g>).

Once the lists are a little more complete, I''ll probably split them into two separate web pages.

I agree with the separate listings thing. While I don't hang my head over just walking the whole trail, I can't even fathom riding it in one day. Those people are amazing!

And Ray, I know that DougK has done the whole trail as well as a few others.

And if we are assigning fruits, can I be a grape? ;-)

I've always fancied pears. They're shaped just like me (ha ha)

I doubt I will ever be capable of doing the entire trail in one day, but I hope to one day hike the entire Katy.

DougK from Troy on 8/18/2008 9:10:39 AM:
Matt,
Take lots of practice hikes and try to work up to a one week trip to prepare. Hike the trail in sections if thru hiking isn't practical for you. You'll wonder why your doing it when you hike but trust me, you won't be sorry you did it.

Like Doug said....
