The Corner in Rhineland
AC on 06/27/2022 01:14 PM:
There are no restaurant options in Rhineland due to the fire at the Corner. Please plan accordingly and carry plenty of water and snacks. There isnt much shade around town either.

Ray (webmaster) on 06/27/2022 03:20 PM:
Sorry to hear about the fire - thank you AC for sharing the info. I have removed The Corner from Rhineland listings.

The Corner in Rhineland suffered a fire yesterday. I hope they will rebuild.
If you are on the trail and had planned to eat in Rhineland the closest food that I know of will be at Loutre Market in McKittrick. It is an easy ride on the shoulder of Hwy 19 just south of the trail. Loutre Market has a deli counter with sandwiches, fried chicken, Etc.

Got into Rhineland just after noon on a Sunday - we were riding fast to beat an approaching storm. Good news: the Sunday brunch buffet was available until 1:00. Delicious. Bad news: They close at 2:00 on Sunday and there was nothing else open in Rhineland. But we were forewarned and got takeout for dinner - also very good - and our story had a happy ending.

Stopped here for a break and lunch on Thursday the 19th. I usually ride the Katy every year and always look forward to stopping here. Service is always friendly and the food is always good.

We come in one week prices we’re OK we come in weeks later price is raised again ridiculously overpriced and then waitress wants 20% off the computer what a joke that’s an obligation not to be forced your food is over price how could anybody leave a A tip good luck in the future

Doug from Bluffton on 07/29/2021 05:18 PM:
You're comment is really difficult to decipher, but as far as prices go; have you bought groceries lately? The price goes up daily. The waitress wanted 20% of the computer? You mean your bill? I can't believe ANYONE in there told you that unless you were a HUGE amount of work. Now, judging from your post, THAT I believe. I eat there often and NONE of what you posted makes any sense. The food is very good and reasonably priced and they treat you well. Unless you're a jerk.

Sharonbikes from Kansas City on 07/29/2021 07:18 PM:
I have been eating there for years and they have always been Wonderful to me - the food has been great and very reasonably priced. I will continue to eat there every chance I get!! I am sorry you had a bad expericen there - I suggest you give them another try.

Yes, we have the friendliest chicken in the world here in Missouri.

Sorry, could not resist. :-)

I've never been so close to a chicken that I could call it a good friend. Guess you're pretty lucky Craig. Will look for you two next time I'm on the Katy.

Love The Corner for dining on the Katy Trail! We eat there every time we stay in Rhineland.
Quiet wholesome setting where the locals go to eat. Fresh made Homestyle food, breakfast, lunch & dinner. (Breakfast stops at 10:30, so better get up & at ‘um!) Kind & friendly staff.
Save room & Don’t miss one of their delicious desserts!
It’s nice to know of a place to eat any day of the week. And, without having to go into Hermann.
You’ve been on the bike trail & tired and hungry? This is your place! They will take good care of you. (Plse Be kind in return) (Clean restaurant & bathrooms)

Was our plans to stop here this past Monday (10/12) on our W to E on the trail. Unfortunately, the Corner restaurant is Closed on Mondays....argh!

Had to pedal on to Augusta to a little place called Kate's Coffee. Have to climb a few hills to get to, but a very quaint little place. Opens at 7:30am
