Darrell from Jeff City, Mo. on 08/12/2010 03:18 PM:
Say what??? Has something changed? Thought they closed up, or down! Or are you yanking our collective chain?

Amy Williams from Marthasville on 08/16/2010 12:36 AM:
The sign at the Marthasville Katy Trail Head says it's closed..I had heard that they are under new management and will be opening back up...no idea for sure though.

Jim from STL on 09/04/2010 06:50 PM:
When we were out at the Treolar trialhead lasr week the grill had reopened under new management. Hopefully it will be successful.

Doug from Bluffton on 10/25/2010 10:12 PM:
Hey Linda, when are you open? What all is on the menu? Can bikers get water bottles filled?

Jim on 04/10/2011 08:40 PM:
Is this place (Murph's Place) open. We were by there today and there was no signs on the building and appeared closed.

Jen and Brian from Olathe, KS (Kansas City area) on 10/25/2011 01:44 PM:
Just ate there Monday Oct 24th 2011. Murph's Place is the new name. It was not the most beautiful place I've ever been inside but everyone was friendly and the $5.00 Burger and Fry special was one of the best burgers I have ever had. Delish and cheap!

Tom N from Paducah, KY on 11/01/2011 08:36 AM:
Great place! We stopped there on our way to St. Charles on 10/27/11 around noon time. Great food and cold beer and friendly service! Definitely will stop there again.

Eva from Treloar on 11/01/2012 04:04 PM:
To those of you that may be wondering...Treloar Bar & Grill is open once again!! It is NOT in the same building as before. It is just down the block from there!! The new owners are John and Lisa Ketterer of Treloar. They serve cold beer and good food!! They are in the midst of a bit of reconsruction right now and do apologize but we are adding more to the menu everyday!! Their new kitchen is coming along quite nicely!! Come on in and have a look!!

AndrewK from Kansas City on 07/16/2014 06:23 PM:

DON'T DO IT! The proprietor let a drunk make insulting comments and jokes throught our stay. The bathroom did not have a working sink. The beer was cold and cheap but we will not stop there again.

A friend and I rode from Weldon Springs across to Murph's in Treloar to try their food after reading about them on this site. Our families drove over and met us for lunch at Murph's. The 1/2 lb Murph burger as well as the 1/4 lb cheese burger and pork chop sandwiches hit the spot with our two families. Service was great and friendly in keeping our drink glasses full for us to re-hydrate after the almost +28 mile ride. We plan to make the trip again in one of our future trail rides.

Our very first stop and at first we were scared to go in. The outside was not exactly inviting. Once we got in everyone was friendly and all of our meals were extremely satisfying. Be prepared to kick back for an hour, service is friendly but not fast. That's a good thing.

skip k from Hannibal on 05/20/2009 08:31 PM:
And you will get the BEST Cheeseburger you will find anywhere !!! VERY FRIENDLY people.

Blue Tapp from St. Louis on 05/21/2009 04:40 PM:
Treloar Bar & Grill is our favorite restaurant on the entire trail. It's very true about the cheeseburgers! And I've got a picture to prove it: http://www.bluetapp.com/KatyTrail2008/images/DSCF0232.jpg.

This was our planned lunch stop during a two-day ride. I was starving, but nervous as we

arrived in the middle of a motorcycle poker run. They didn't even notice the two cyclists in

spandex. Everyone was very friendly.

Now that's a BURGER!! - Treloar Bar & Grill
Kellys on 09/22/2007 09:24 PM:
Stopped at 2 pm on a Sunday afternoon and had THE BEST hamburger ever--actually a double hamburger that was so thick I ate it as 2 burgers each on half a bun. The staff made us feel welcome and chatted freely about the area, the Trail and shared some local lore.

While off our normal route, will try to get back here if anywhere in the area!!

Anonymous on 09/22/2007 11:29 PM:
WOW....you just cant get a burger like that just anywhere. They're pretty hard to find.

MAH from Blue Springs, MO on 09/23/2007 09:40 AM:
The homemade pies are great too. Just look to the north as you cross the country road to find the place.

Where is this BURGER place ? ------ we travel the road to Clinton from St Charles often ------- can you reach it by car ?-----waiting for info ----- Making the trip on Tuesday

Just past the trailhead by the town with the grain elevator.

This is quite the post. Thanks for all the useful information.

It looks like another one of those St. Charles type businesses that goes incognito on the web with vital information. You know, one where you have to call for more information. You might try 1-800-WHERE'S DA BURGER.

cindy from muscatine,iowa on 09/24/2007 08:47 AM:
so what town is tis burger place in?? my husband wants to visit st. charles and he loves a good burger!! where do we need to go??

Ray (webmaster) on 09/24/2007 11:14 AM:
Sorry for the confusion, folks. Because this website lets you enter comments from the various town web pages or from the various business pages, sometimes people's forum notes don't spell out exactly which location they're talking about. I added "Treloar Bar & Grill" to the subject of this thread, because that's what restaurant the original message was about (in the town of Treloar, of course).

skip from Hannibal on 10/02/2007 09:58 PM:
AMEN to the "burger" !!!! I've had some good ones, but NONE better than the ones served up at the "Treloar Bar & Grill" in Treloar !!!! By car, it is just off of Hwy 94. You can't miss it. REAL FRIENDLY place....and if you're camping, they'll let you pitch your tent right out back.

On June 22, 2007 the special for the day was "Sloppy Joe" sandwiches. The first one was so good I had to have another. The food was fantastic, and the owner was very friendly, we could have sat there all day and shot the breeze and drank cold adult beverages, but we had another 45 miles to ride.

Just rode the Katy Trail with a friend between Augusta and McKittrick on Tue, 5/8 and Wed, 5/9. We were hoping to have lunch at the Treloar Bar & Grill on Tues, but it did not open until 4pm. We arrived there around 1pm and the owner (I think) greeted us and asked if he could help us. He offered us food eventhough he wasn't open! Another great example of kindness and generousity on the trail. If I remember correctly, their posted hours were Mon: closed, Tues: 4pm-close, and 11am-close the rest of the week. Call before you plan on stopping for a meal. They have a vending machine with drinks outside.

We stopped late on Friday afternoon and would have stayed a lot longer if the weather wasn't threatening to the west and our host in Marthasville wasn't waiting for us. Nice people and cold beverages. They offered to let us camp behind the bar and stay for karaoke if we were tenting it.

I could have had lunch at the suburban style supermarket and deli located on the highway near the McKittrick trailhead. But I opted for genuine Katy Trail fare at the Treloar Bar and Grill 16 mile down the trail. Unfortunately, it was closed and the sign said it does not open until 4:00pm Tueseday throught Friday.

Ray (webmaster) on 09/19/2004 11:32 PM:
Thank you for posting the comments about discrepancies you found in the hours of businesses along the trail. For most of those, I had gotten the hours back in May. Some of these places really drive me nuts with how they change their hours around - some change by the season, but others just seem to change their hours on a whim. I appreciate you passing along the correct info, so I can update the website. I hope you enjoyed your trip, other than the unexpected CLOSED signs you encountered!

Stopped at the bar and grill on 10/21/05. Nice people and good food. There may be nicer places on the trail, but after 16 cold and wet miles, I was happy the Treloar Bar and Grill was there and open.

Ellen from Maine on 01/22/2006 02:35 PM:
We went to the Trelor Bar and Grill and had one of the best times of our time on the trail. The hostess (owner) was great, the food was good ol' grill food that filled our stomachs and did not empty our wallet and the Root Beer floats (root beer schnapps and beer) were a hit of the evening. Just don't come in with an attitude. These were thee greatest peole we met...

I can't wait to see them again and have another steak..

We stopped there after a beautiful ride to and from McKindrick. The food was excellent. We sat in the back room where it wasn't so smokey.

Stopped in on 10/26/06 and had a couple of beers. I can't remember the young lady’s name working the bar but she was really nice. She was able to tell us a lot about the bar and the local area. Good place for a beer and sandwich.

You've never seen potato skins so worth your money! Lots of bacon, cheese, sour cream on the side. These still have a significant amount of potato on them...very filling. We were charged no tax. It's a no frills place with bottomless lemonade, good food and a friendly owner.
